Robert McLaughlin was born and reared in Garngad (Roystonhill), Glasgow. Many of Robert's ancestors came from Buncrana. Click here to see the nine generations of Robert's family starting with Old Henry who was born about 1790. Sadly Robert passed away on 12th May, 2006 but Thomas McLaughlin continues to research the family tree and its many roots. If anyone can give him further information please email him at the address in the link.

I've send a e-mail to Thomas, but figured I'd post hear as well...

My great-grand-father, Michael McLaughlin left Buncrana somewhere between 1830-1850 for eastern Canada with a French Canadian priest (Père Michaud) who offered him a job in his dioces of Bouctouche NB. He went on to marry Father Michaud's neice (was this his plan? I think so;) and they had many children...My grand-mother was born in 1900. He was a very successful business man having the town general store.

I'm curious to know if he is in the tree of 'ol Henry, and if not, what other trees are there? My uncle told me once that there is a descendent that has a Pub in Buncrana. Is this possible?

Thanks for any info!

Slante!
