Buncrana all set for Music Festival

Buncrana all set for Music Festival Buncrana’s first music festival in five years kicks off this week with a huge amount of exciting activities and events. A number of eagerly-awaited top acts will take to the stage from Thursday to Sunday night with a range of other events taking place throughout the day. Some of the pre-festival highlights include Bricriu’s Feast, a stunning street parade featuring bodhran bands, giants, warriors, fairy dancers, druids on stilts, fighting, feasting and chariot racing on the Shore Greens tomorrow evening at 7.30pm Tai Chi in the Park with Kim McMenamin also takes place from 7.30 – 8am at Swans Park up and including Thursday. Cullen’s Amusements will also provide all manner of entertainment on the Shore Front. On Thursday, from 7.00 – 7.40pm, there will be a spectacular opening ceremony and street dance with Fleetwood Back on stage on the Main Street from 8.00 – 9.00pm, followed by Meteor Award winning group The Coronas. On Friday, The Undertones take to the Gig Rig, again on the Main Street from 9.30pm – 11.00pm followed by The Pyros live in The Plaza from 11.30pm. On Saturday, a number of entertaining events take place during the day, including a vintage car show on the Shore Green car park from 2.00- 4.00pm, a family disco in Tullyarvan Mill from 2.00 – 5.00pm and the Aoibheann Inis Eoin Photography Exhibition at The Plaza. Later that night, Future Chaser, The Stone Roses Experiences and U2 Rattle and Hum will perform on stage. These performances will now take place on the Main Street instead of the Shore Greens. They will be followed by Knights of Leon in The Plaza. The closing day of the festival, Sunday, sees Lazer Wars and Bumper Balls all day at Inishowen Quad Safari, a Community Sports Day at The Scarvey from 1.00 – 4.00pm and Greasepaint Productions perform Mama Mia on the Shore Greens from 5.00 – 6.00pm. The festival will t close with the Inishowen Gospel Choir from 8.00 – 9.00pm and Altan from 9.30 – 11.00pm, followed by a sensational fireworks display on the Shore Greens.
