Buncrana to host Irish premiere of A Shine of Rainbows

Inishowen is set to stage the Irish premiere of the multi award winning movie filmed here just over two year ago. A Shine of Rainbows, starring Holllywood actors Aidan Quinn and Connie Nielson, which features many people and places from the peninsula will have its special preview in St Mary’s Hall Cinema, Buncrana on April 22. The exciting news was announced by Cinemagic International Film and Television for Young People and Donegal County Council’s Film Office. ‘A Shine of Rainbows’ had its Northern Ireland Premiere at Cinemagic, Belfast, last November where it picked up the festival’s young jury prize for ‘Best Feature Film for a Children’s Audience’. The premiere was attended by a host of supporters from Donegal including cast and crew, the film’s producers from Sepia Films, Canada, young actor John Bell, Casting Director Ros Hubbard and IFTA nominated The Henry Girls who provided the music for the film’s soundtrack. Since November Cinemagic and Donegal County Council’s Film Office have been working in partnership to secure a preview screening in Inishowen and are “delighted’ to be able to organise this special event. Joan Burney Keatings, Cinemagic Chief Executive described the screening as a ‘homecoming for the film.” ““Cinemagic is delighted to be working with Donegal County Council’s Film Office to be able to showcase A Shine of Rainbows to its Inishowen audience. We have developed a strong relationship with the film’s producers and many of the crew and production team involved, as well as being able to screen it to an international audience in the US, earlier this year, as part of Cinemagic’s 20th Anniversary celebrations and to have a home-coming screening in Donegal is very special indeed.” Aideen Doherty, Donegal County Council Film Office said the film showcased Inishowen in all its beauty and glory. “’A Shine of Rainbows’ is about to open in North America and Cultural and Tourism providers in the peninsula have an opportunity to capitalise on Inishowen being viewed by potential visitors to the area. Cinemagic, by screening the film in Buncrana, has provided people living in this spectacular peninsula to take time to reflect how lucky we are to reside here. The cinematography in ‘A Shine of Rainbows’ highlights the need to value and look after this coveted resource that we often take for granted.” Tickets for the screening are now available from Lorna McCausland, Cinemagic. Please contact lorna@cinemagic.org.uk or Tel +44 28 90 311 900 with your name and contact details to reserve tickets. Tickets will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
