Women escape Culdaff house fire

Two women were treated in hospital following a house fire in the Culdaff area in the early hours of Thursday morning last. The alarm was raised at 3.15am by an off-duty Garda officer who was staying in nearby accommodation after he heard “banging” coming from the house in the Dunalinn area. The two women, one in her 50s and the other in her 40s, were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation before being released. Superintendent William Johnston said as part of the their inquiries both were interviewed by Gardai and the “scene forensically examined” and the investigation “concluded” the blaze had started accidentally.
